BEST MUSCLE MASS
EXERCISES

What’s the best muscle mass exercise for each muscle group?

Although your goal is to gain muscle mass… not every exercise in your program will be a mass-building exercise. Too many of these exercises will actually limit your muscle growth. Therefore, you’ll perform no more than two for the bigger muscle groups, and no more than one for the smaller muscle groups. Once you’ve gained considerable size you can include three for the bigger muscle groups.

So, what makes a certain exercise the best weight training exercise for building muscle mass?

I look at it in a few different ways:

(1) It pumps more blood into the muscles than other exercises

(2) It plays a huge role in the overall development of the muscle group… meaning it works every part of that muscle group

(3) It usually takes more energy out of you than other exercises

This combination is the reason why mass-building exercise(s) are generally performed before any of the other exercises for a particular muscle group. Eventually, once you’ve acquired enough experience, you can play around with the order.

In the end, all exercises take part in building muscle mass. These are just the best mass-building exercises. I’ll mention a few alternatives to each exercise. But remember, only one for the smaller muscle groups and two for the bigger muscle groups… per program. When you change your program after about 2-3 months, you can switch it with one of the alternatives.

Some people want to keep the exact same mass-building exercise(s) for more than two consecutive programs. If you do this you will find yourself not progressing much in the muscle mass department. Your body gets used to the exact same movement… even if it is the best exercise to build muscle mass. It’s easy to get attached to a great exercise, but don’t worry… you’ll come back to it in about 6 months or so. When you do, and since you will have improved, you’ll feel your muscles getting even more pumped this time around.
