Bulk Up

'Bulk Up: The Life of an Amateur Bodybuilder' is a bodybuilding documentary about one man's quest to gain 10 pounds of lean muscle in under 3 months time... without the use of drugs. It's a great display of how setting a clear goal and taking the necessary steps, can lead to extraordinary results. Although I personally enjoyed the film, I have to say (without hopefully sounding too judgmental) that the trainer's negative attitude towards what is considered to be possible struck me in a bad way.

I've had similar experiences with fitness instructors particularly within the first few years of my training, where my limitations were set by them. Thankfully, records are meant to be broken, and it takes a certain type of person to break through them. These are individuals that push the barriers of what is considered "reasonable" in every human's mind. I'm glad that Justin (the star of this bodybuilding documentary) had and continues to have the courage to face the negative criticism, which does nothing but slow down one's progress.
